The hospital, which was built on the initiative of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, started its operation on October 13, Juche 102 (2013).

The Supreme Leader indicated the orientation and ways for the hospital to fully discharge its mission and duty as a modern medical service center and took a benevolent step for their realization.

In 2013 alone, he visited the hospital several times to solve all the problems arising in the management and operation of it and in putting its treatment service on an IT basis.

And he personally named the hospital "Okryu Children's Hospital".

For the past six years, the hospital has brought more than 500000 children back to health and conducted over 7 800 tele-consultations and lectures for medical workers across the country.

And it introduced several hundred medical sci-tech achievements, including advanced operation methods for congenital heart diseases, and applied the standard IT system to the general operation room.

Meanwhile, the hospital has developed various medical appliances.
