The primary and secondary education is the most fundamental and important stage of education.

Proceeding from the importance of the primary and secondary education, the DPRK is now enforcing the universal 12-year compulsory education, the term of which is one year longer than the former term. The main purpose of the present compulsory education is to train future talents who will be able to propel the building of a power in terms of quality.

Only when the primary and secondary education is strengthened, is it possible to train all the people as true patriots and revolutionary talents who will devote themselves to their country and people, keeping their feet firmly planted on their land and looking out over the world.
