Urgent Meeting of Koreans in Kanto Denounces Japanese Authorities' Discrimination Acts

Pyongyang, October 21 (KCNA) -- Officials of the headquarters, branches and central leadership bodies of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and teachers in Kanto area held an urgent meeting at the Korean Hall in Tokyo, Japan on October 18. Attending the meeting were Chairman of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon Ho Jong Man, Vice-Chairman Nam Sung U, Pae Jin Gu, vice-chairman and director general of the General Affairs Department of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee, Pak Ku Ho, vice-chairman and director of the Organization Department of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee, Jo Il Yon, vice-chairman of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee, Kang Chu Ryon, vice-chairwoman of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee and concurrently chairwoman of the Central Standing Committee of the Union of Democratic Korean Women in Japan, Ri Myong Yu, chairman of the Central Audit Committee of Chongryon, members of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee, chairpersons of the headquarters and branches of Chongryon in Kanto area, leading officials of the central leadership bodies and officials in the education field. Nam Sung U in his report denounced the Japanese authorities for finalizing the exclusion of the kindergartens of the Korean schools from the "program for free education and upbringing of children". He pointed out that a large-scale meeting and demonstration are due on November 2 with the solidarity organizations of Japan in demand of the application of the "program" to the kindergartens of the Korean schools. He referred in detail to the tasks for all officials of Chongryon to wage an all-out campaign by concentrating all their efforts. Then, speeches were made. Ho Jong Man made a concluding address. He said that the inhumanitarian act of the Japanese authorities against even kindergarteners is a dangerous challenge, unpardonable chauvinistic act and unprecedented fascist atrocity aimed to crack down the national education as a whole beyond discrimination and seriously threaten even the existence of the Korean community in Japan. He appealed to the participants to conduct a dynamic struggle for defending national education and certainly win the application of the "program" to the kindergartens of the Korean schools. |
