In order to fulfill the desire of Chairman Kim Jong Il who had worked heart and soul to provide the people with better footwear, the Supreme Leader initiated the modernization of the Ryuwon Footwear Factory and energetically guided this work, giving important instructions on scores of occasions.

Visiting the factory turned into a standard one in the country's shoe-making industry in October Juche 106 (2017), he expressed satisfaction over the appearance of another flawless light industrial factory running in reliance on domestic raw materials.

He examined home-made equipment and facilities of the factory, saying that self-reliance is the best. He also called for steadily remodeling the designs of shoes and paying special attention to the designing of sole. And he added that designers should know well about the shoe engineering as well as fine art.

Thanks to his devoted efforts, the Ryuwon Footwear Factory put the localization of equipment on a high level and developed into a big base mass-producing various sports shoes.
