This spa, called Songchon Hot Spring, contains 27 mineral matters, including radon, sodium, magnesium and potassium and the content of mineral matters is 360.50 mg per liter.

As radon accounts for an overwhelming proportion, the spring is very efficacious for arteriosclerosis, arthrosis, neuralgia, aftereffect of trauma and operation, gynecopathy, hypertension, chronic dermatitis and eczema.

In this regard, Kim Chang Sik, section chief of the Songchon Onjong Sanatorium under Pyongyang University of Medicine Hospital, told KCNA:

The spa's radon content is 2.5 times higher than Jongdal Hot Spring in Samchon County.

On November 1, 1967, Chairman Kim Jong Il said that the spa in Onjong-ri is one of the country's famous mineral springs and instructed to spruce up the sanatorium associated with warm love of the President for the people.

Now the sanatorium has turned into a cure with a comprehensive clinic, tens of sickrooms and different kinds of physio-treatment equipment.
