The art studio has opened up a new path in the creation of art pieces depicting the leader and created a lot of masterpieces of national treasure and historic art pieces for sixty years.

President Kim Il Sung organized the Sculpture Creative Group, the predecessor of the Mansudae Art Studio, for the building of the Chollima Statue after the war and indicated a way of building the Juche art.

Chairman Kim Jong Il set November 17, Juche 48(1959) the day when Kim Il Sung gave the first guidance to the miniature of the Chollima Statue as the founding day of the art studio.

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un visited the Mansudae Art Studio even at midnight and dawn and said that it is the greatest mission for the art studio to perfectly depict the images of the leaders at the best level.

Creators and officials of the art studio have created the masterpieces depicting the leaders, monuments and many masterpieces symbolic of the times and loved by the people for 60 years since its foundation.

More than a hundred masterpieces created at the art studio have been highly appreciated hundreds of times at different international expositions including the Beijing International Art Exposition and demonstrated the developing art of the DPRK.

The art studio has been awarded Order of Kim Il Sung, Order of Kim Jong Il, Kim Il Sung Youth Honor Prize, Kim Jong Il Youth Honor Prize, Order of National Flag First Class and the title of the Thrice Three-Revolution Red Flag and developed into a prominent leading art creation base which produced many talented creators including people's artists and merited artists.
