30th Anniversary of UN Convention on Children's Rights Marked
Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- A meeting of children took place at Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace on Wednesday to mark the 30th anniversary of the UN convention on children's rights.

It was attended by officials of the Education Commission and the Grand People's Study House and other relevant officials, schoolchildren, diplomatic envoys and representatives of international bodies and missions including the representative of the UNICEF mission here.

Speeches were made at the meeting.

The speakers said the UN convention on children's rights was adopted on Nov. 20, 1989 to provide the children with a better world whose peaceful, equal, safe and clean environment is guaranteed.

Saying that it is a very important matter related with the future and destiny of a country to successfully bring up the rising generation, they stressed that it is necessary to further strengthen exchange and cooperation in various fields including care of the children's health and nursing and upbringing of them.

The participants enjoyed an art performance given by the art group members of the palace and watched a video on the rising generation in the DPRK who are happily growing up under the care of the socialist system. Then they saw the photos and pictures on display.
