In his life time, the Chairman set it as the most important affair of the Party and the state to attach importance to the youths and provided a large contingent of young people faithful to accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche.

One day in June Juche 52 (1963), he noted that the youth issue is not only an immediate issue but also a long-range issue for the Korean revolution. We should give prominence to the young people and spare nothing for them, he said, adding that to put forward and love them as much as possible is the most righteous attitude and stand we should take toward the youths.

As he regarded this as his constant view, he set forth the slogan "Love the young people!" and invariably applied it in the protracted revolutionary practice.

It was an expression of his deep trust and warm love for the young people to entrust to them such projects as the construction of northern railways, Youth Hero Motorway and Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station.

Under such loving care of the Chairman, the young people of the DPRK could grow up into the reliable successors to the revolution and into the stalwart vanguard and shock-brigade in building a powerful socialist country.
