Chairman Kim Jong Il's Devotion for People's Wellbeing
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- It was the lifelong motto of Chairman Kim Jong Il to believe in the people as in heaven.

Saying that the people's interests should be put above all and he would always remain a son of the people, the Chairman devoted all his life to their wellbeing.

The people are an almighty being, and one should pluck even a star from the sky and bring a flower into bloom even on a rock, if they want. This was his creed.

Reflected in the slogan "We Serve the People!" put up by the Chairman is the political faith of him who had pursued the politics of loving care for the people with the constant view of regarding the people as heaven.

He had always set the people's demands and will as an absolute criterion in adopting any state and party line and policy.

There are many stories telling about his deep love for the people.

When a power station was to be constructed, he saw to it that new houses were built before anything else for the inhabitants living in this area. Visiting a chicken farm and silk fabrics and cosmetics factories, he earnestly called upon them to be units faithfully serving the people, the units beloved by the people. When a new kind of symphony was loudly applauded by the audience, he said with pleasure that this new art work passed the screening of the people.

Regarding the people's happiness as his greatest joy and pleasure, he had visited more than 14 290 units across the country until the last moments of his great life.

In Juche 98 (2009) alone, he gave field guidance to 200-odd units across the country. Such revolutionary anecdotes and historical terms as "short and uncomfortable sleep and rice-ball", "field haircut", "forced march in the blizzards of winter", "forced march in the sweltering weather" and "forced march at midnight" were born in the course of his long journey of devotion to the country and the people.
