Extracurricular Activities at Kwangbok Primary School

Pyongyang, December 24 (KCNA) -- Extracurricular activities are getting brisk at schools of the DPRK where the universal 12-year compulsory education is enforced. Kwangbok Primary School affiliated to Pyongyang Teachers Training College has become a model in extracurricular activities. In this regard, Merited Teacher Choe Kyong Sin, head of the school, told KCNA: An extracurricular group is a teaching space good for the educators to find out hobbies and aptitudes of schoolchildren in good time and train them into creative talents. The school is operating 19 extracurricular groups dealing with mathematics, composition, Paduk, abacus, calligraphy, combined intelligence play, drawing, national instrumental music, singing, football, volleyball, etc. All the schoolchildren are taking part in extracurricular activities. In particular, they are at a high level in using abacus. Pupils in the fourth and fifth years can calculate the complicated four rules of arithmetic while singing and dancing. The extracurricular activities help schoolchildren possess high concentration, memorization, thinking and the faculty of speech. |
