Science and Technology Serve as Strategic Assets: Rodong Sinmun
Pyongyang, February 21 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Korea has termed science and technology strategic assets, which is the requirements of the times and the developing revolution, historic review of the course of socialist construction full of miracles and manifestation of the great pluck with which to proudly open up a new avenue for building a powerful socialist country by tiding over all the difficulties through an active offensive, says Rodong Sinmun in an article on Friday.

The article goes on:

Science and technology constitute a mighty weapon reliably guaranteeing the power and position of a state, and they serve as a stout pillar supporting its dignity and might.

When a country is backward in science and technology, its land and natural resources are useless and it is doomed to suffer poverty, backwardness, subordination and submission. If a country disregards science and technology, it will fail to develop and thereby be ruined.

The DPRK ushered in an era of all-round efflorescence in all the fields despite stern ordeals and difficulties going beyond human imagination, and stands with dignity in the heart of the world political arena, all of which are attributable to the revolutionary strategy of the Party for developing science and technology.

Under the leadership of the Party which has valued science and technology as one of the three pillars for building a powerful socialist country, the hot wind of prioritizing science and technology and the enthusiasm for breaking through the cutting edge came to prevail in the country and nationwide efforts to be concentrated on developing them.

Under the special care of the Party, a great number of talents firmly equipped with the revolutionary idea have been produced along with great scientific and technological achievements.

Inexhaustible is the DPRK's sci-technological force materializing the plans and determinations of the Party, stresses the article.
