Veterinary and Anti-Epizootic Work for Preventing Viral Epidemics Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, February 28 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is now directing much effort to the veterinary and anti-epizootic work against the African swine fever and bird flu.

The Central Epizootic Prevention Center under the Ministry of Agriculture sent officials and experts to local areas to take veterinary and anti-epizootic measures, while strengthening the monitoring system to immediately cope with any slight symptoms.

And the center has rapidly informed relevant units of details on the outbreak of the African swine fever and bird flu and their damage in the world as well as technological data on preventive measures against them.

It also pushes ahead with the development of preventive medicine for the African swine fever in liaison with different scientific research institutions.

Observation posts have been established in the habitats of migrants, including wild geese and swans, and wild boars across the country and veterinary inspection of domestic animals is being carried out in their surrounding areas.

Measures have been taken to urge pig farms, poultry farms, communal stock-breeding units at co-op farms and individual residences to strictly observe the veterinary and anti-epizootic rule.

Much effort has been directed to thoroughly eradicating the root cause of diseases by meticulously cleaning and sterilizing corrals, feed warehouses, depositories, sewage works, etc. and keeping their surroundings neat and tidy.
