Work to Increase Sanctuaries Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 11 (KCNA) -- Big efforts have been paid to increasing sanctuaries for useful animals in each province of the DPRK.

North Hwanghae Province chose sanctuaries in Yonthan and Unpha counties and planted there more than 60 000 trees like pine and maple while speeding up the construction of road and animal sheds.

Nampho City set an area of tens of hectares in Hanggu District as a sanctuary and is pushing ahead with the work to build a ring road, plant tens of thousands of good species of trees and install a wire-net fence.

Similar works are witnessed in North and South Phyongan and Hamgyong, Kangwon and other provinces.

Earlier, a 2019-2020 survey of sanctuaries was carried out with the participation of officials and researchers from the Zoology Research Institute and the Biodiversity Institute under the State Academy of Sciences and the General Bureau of Forest under the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection as well as designers and rangers in forestry field from each province.

Through the survey, they confirmed main protective animal species and resources in relevant areas.

Meanwhile, such works as making pools, feed shelves, nests and artificial caves in the areas unfavorable for animals' feeding and breeding activities are conducted from March to July every year, the period of protecting useful animals.
