Number of COVID-19 Cases on Rise in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 17 (KCNA) -- The number of COVID-19 cases rose to 8,236 in south Korea, according to south Korean Yonhap News.

The central anti-epidemic measure headquarters said 74 more people were confirmed to be infected with novel coronavirus within 24 hours after 00:00 Sunday.

COVID-19 has claimed 76 dead in south Korea.

In the meantime, the south Korean authorities Sunday announced North Kyongsang Province as special disaster-stricken area, and decided to put special restrictions on the entry of all passengers from Europe from 00:00 Monday in order to prevent the inroads of COVID-19 from abroad.

As of 09:00 on Monday, 140 countries and regions ban or impose tightened restrictions on the entry of passengers from south Korea.
