The department store, situated in the heart of the capital city, is a commercial service center professionally dealing in goods for children. At its every floor there is playing space for children.

It is associated with the peerlessly great men's warm love for the rising generations.

President Kim Il Sung initiated the construction of a children's department store in April Juche 48 (1959) and selected its site in February next year.

He visited the completed department store in November 1961 to acquaint himself with the preparation of its operation. And he gave instructions to produce and supply many more quality goods to the department store, noting that the department store should become an educational place for the children.

Chairman Kim Jong Il, too, visited the department store on several occasions and gave detailed instructions to fulfill its mission.

The department store was remodeled as a modern commercial service and educational center for the children some years ago, thanks to the loving care of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un who personified the noble outlook of the President and the Chairman on posterity.
