The flower garden, opened in April Juche 81 (1992) to mark the 80th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung, is divided into botanical exhibition, several greenhouses, floral area, etc.

On display at the botanical exhibition are Kimilsungia, Kimjongilia, plants indigenous to the country and more than 250 kinds of ornamental plants sent by scores of foreign countries.

Its horticulturists introduced advanced science and technology and cultivation method to adapt various kinds of tropical, subtropical, temperate and arctic flowers and flowering trees to the climatic and soil conditions of the country.

Meanwhile, an artificial pond and a waterfall, a pavilion in the middle of the pond and various sculptures are well-matched to natural environment.

The flower garden, covered with beautiful flowers and hundreds of thousands of trees in over 60 kinds, has served as a base for educational, cultural and leisure activities of schoolchildren and working citizens.

President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the flower garden under construction in April 1991 to plant clammy locust and pine-nut tree.
