Moran Hill, Beauty Spot of Pyongyang
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- Moran Hill has long been known as a scenic spot of Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, as it is thickly covered with various flowers and trees and has many historical relics.

In the hill, there are historical relics like Ulmil and Chongryu pavilions and the Hyonmu Gate, cascades, ponds and walkways.

There are also Kim Il Sung Stadium, volleyball ground, basketball ground, Korean-wrestling site, folklore games areas, Moranbong Theatre, botanical exhibition, small-sized zoo and other cultural establishments.

In fact, the hill could turn into an excellent park of Korean style and a cultural resort for citizens thanks to the devoted efforts of President Kim Il Sung.

He climbed Moran Hill one day in the first spring after Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial yoke (August 15, 1945). Going round the damaged hill with a heartrending mind, he said that it should be turned into a fine cultural recreation center for the Pyongyang citizens.

In February 1974, he again climbed the hill with leading officials of Pyongyang City in the teeth of cold wind. He gave precious instructions to spruce up the hill into a Korean-style park, saying that it is just like a garden of Pyongyang.

The President had toured the hill more than 30 times till the last moments of his life.
