This sacred title tells about the undying exploits of the President who had wrought military miracles in the 20th century.

He inherited two pistols carrying the patriotic will from his father in his early years. And he had reliably defended the country's dignity and the people's happiness with arms all his life.

He founded the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, genuine armed forces of Korea, in Juche 21 (1932) to declare a war against the Japanese imperialist aggressors and had led the anti-Japanese armed struggle to victory to liberate Korea.

In the 1950-1953 Fatherland Liberation War against armed invasion from the imperialist allied forces, he defeated the enemy's numerical and technical superiority with his Juche-based military idea and tactics by wisely guiding the Korean army and people and brought about a great victory unprecedented in the world history of wars.

He also advanced the military line of self-reliant defence on making the entire army a cadre army, modernizing the entire army, putting all the people under arms and turning the whole country into a fortress. And he had successfully carried it into practice to further strengthen the Korean People's Army (KPA) into invincible armed forces and turn the whole country into an impregnable fortress, thus foiling the aggression moves of the imperialists and other reactionaries perpetrated for decades after the war and firmly defending the sovereignty of the country and nation.

That's why the Korean people awarded the title of Generalissimo of the DPRK to President Kim Il Sung on his 80th birthday in praise of his undying feats for army building.
