Brisk Work for Recycling Municipal Waste
Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- The recycling of municipal waste is getting brisk in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK.

Choe Song Yong, an official of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, told KCNA:

Eleven districts, including Mangyongdae, Phyongchon and Central districts, built waste treatment factories in the outskirts of the city and have put their operation on a normal basis. The annual waste treatment capacity of each factory reaches tens of thousands of tons.

More than 70 000 blocks, 8 000-odd tons of fertilizer, hundreds of kilograms of aluminum, vinyl sheets, buckets and different kinds of plastic tubes were produced from waste like coal cinders, waste vinyl and plastic debris in the last seven months.

And the classified rag, waste paper and scrap glass are sent to relevant units as raw materials.

It is the goal of waste treatment factories to further raise the rate of recycling of municipal waste, including the extraction of main basic chemicals. They are now strengthening the cooperation with scientific research institutes and production units.
