The statement said the spirit displayed in the uprising for democratization against Syngman Rhee's dictatorial regime 60 years ago has been carried forward.

It is the desire of candlelight demonstrators to uproot the conservative evil forces and achieve democracy, said the statement, and called upon all the progressive democratic reform forces to pool their efforts for the removal of evils seeking division.

The statement expressed the will to join the people in acting with the spirit of the uprising against injustice.
