Referring to the fact that the May 18 Kwangju Popular Uprising is registered in history as a mass struggle for independence, democracy and reunification against the dictatorship, it said various circles of south Korea have steadily continued the struggle for carrying on the history and spirit of the Kwangju resistance.

It said that many people from all walks of life have turned out in the struggle for enacting the law on punishing the distortion of the May 18 history and some of them call for putting an end to the distortion of the history.

It said that an investigation committee would be organized for investigating the detailed truth behind the Kwangju massacre.

Meanwhile, organizations related with the May 18 Kwangju Popular Uprising?and other organizations decided to launch, on a larger scale, activities for probe into the truth of the May 18 massacre in Kwangju and other parts of south Korea.
