The successful completion of the second-stage project makes it possible to fully supply irrigation water to Chongdan, Pongchon, Kangryong and Ongjin counties and the Ryongmaedo tideland under reclamation, which comes to be another firm foundation for increasing grain production in the province.

Walking round Pongchonho Dam and other places of the waterway, he learned in detail about the completion of the second-stage waterway project in South Hwanghae Province and congratulated its builders who took a great stride in implementing the decision of the Fifth Plenary Meeting of the Seventh WPK Central Committee after performing brilliant feats in the struggle for devotedly implementing the instructions of the leaders and defending the Party's policies by displaying the revolutionary fighting spirit and traits of self-reliance and fortitude.

He calls on officials and builders to successfully carry out a new project on the basis of successes and experience gained from the waterway project in South Hwanghae Province.

During his survey, such measures were taken to keep the overall management of the waterway on a sci-tech basis to be actually conducive to the agricultural production in the province.
