Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- Rice-transplantation is now in full swing on Mirim Plain in the outskirts of Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK. Mirim Plain is associated with the immortal feats of the peerlessly great persons. Though President Kim Il Sung was busy leading the building of a new country, he visited the Pyongyang Agricultural Experiments Station on Mirim Plain in June Juche 36 (1947) and joined peasants in rice-transplantation. That day, the President gave the peasants precious instructions on the issues of managing well the land distributed to them, expanding irrigated area for more rice fields and widely disseminating advanced farming methods and agricultural techniques among peasants and other issues related to farming and agricultural research. It was an important occasion in consolidating the successes of agrarian reform, promoting the democratic construction and opening up a broad way for agricultural development that he transplanted rice-seedlings on Mirim Plain. Since then, he visited the plain on several occasions to acquaint himself with the farm work, making great devotion to the increased agricultural production and development of the agricultural science and technology in the country. In June 1948, Chairman Kim Jong Il, together with anti-Japanese war heroine Kim Jong Suk, gave a helping hand to peasants in rice-transplantation on the plain. Today, Mirim Plain is conveying the revolutionary feats performed by the peerlessly great persons for the country's agricultural development. |
