The breeding of catfish in the country is associated with the peerlessly great men's warm love for citizens.

Chairman Kim Jong Il formulated a plan to breed catfish with high productivity in order to supply the people with more fishes and saw to it that the Pyongyang Catfish Farm and other fish farms with big capacity were built in different parts of the country.

Under his energetic guidance, bases producing catfish in an industrial way on a scientific and intensive basis came into being one after another.

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, who regards fish farming as one of the important works for the improvement of people's living standard, visited the Pyongyang Catfish Farm in December Juche 103 (2014) and indicated issues arising in its production and management. He also took a step to modernize it.

One year after, he inspected the Samchon Catfish Farm, stressing the need to turn the farm built on the initiative of the Chairman into a world level one.

The catfish farms across the country are now contributing to the improvement of people's diet.
