Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Blood donation activities are brisk in the DPRK.

Blood banks throughout the country are strengthening the supervision and guidance over rational use of blood and blood transfusion as well as over the work for encouraging the voluntary blood donors.

On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day (June 14) every year, they have organized such significant events as meeting and ceremony to appreciate the active blood donors and convey souvenirs to them in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health. They have also conducted various activities, including photo exhibition, art performance, video show and commemorative blood donation.

Meanwhile, big efforts have been paid to increasing the investment for the state blood plan through cooperation and exchange with international organizations like the World Health Organization and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

According to an official of the Ministry of Public Health, an event for World Blood Donor Day this year will be held as virtual one because of the global spread of COVID-19.
