U.S. Troops in S. Korea Accused of Preparing for Germ Warfare

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- 16 civic organizations of south Korea including the Seoul Citizens Action and the People's Solidarity for the Revision of Unequal South Korea-U.S. "Status of Forces Agreement" held a press conference outside the building of the "National Assembly" on June 9. They called for an immediate closure of laboratories for testing anthrax germs and the like endangering the life of people, according to the south Korean internet newspaper Jaju Sibo.

It was disclosed that the U.S. troops in south Korea have stepped up the preparations for germ warfare on the Korean peninsula in secrecy, they noted in a press release.

They urged the U.S. troops to open to public all the plans for setting up laboratories for anthrax germs and the like in Seoul and other parts of south Korea and immediately stop the moves for a biochemical war on the Korean Peninsula.

They called for the NA to establish a special committee for probing into the truth behind anthrax germ tests, dismantling the laboratories and tackling environmental pollution and problems in prevention of epidemics.
