Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- A large number of poultry farms in the DPRK are now put on an IT and modern basis, contributing to the improvement of the people's diet. In recent years alone, chicken farms including the Mangyongdae Chicken Farm updated their production processes and enhanced the production capacity on a scientific basis. Tudan and Kwangpho duck farms raised the scientific level of production and management. The Pyongyang Ostrich Farm, remodeled last year in line with the requirement of the new century, has hastened the modernization of equipment and production processes to turn out high-nutritive ostrich meat and processed meat. A new history of the modern poultry industry in the country was made by Chairman Kim Jong Il. In the end of the 1990s when the country was in difficulties, the Chairman unfolded a far-reaching plan for modernizing the chicken farms and devotedly worked for its realization. In June Juche 89 (2000), he took measures to provide major materials, equipment and fund needed for modernization of chicken farms and settled the knotty problems in this work. In September 2001, he visited a newly-commissioned chicken farm and indicated the tasks and ways for developing the poultry industry on a large scale by dint of the latest science and technology and putting it on a scientific and intensive basis. He also gave field guidance to newly-built chicken, duck, ostrich and other poultry farms in different parts of the country, telling about the development trend of the modern poultry industry as well as breeding and supply of feed. After all, a new history of the modern poultry industry based on the latest science and technology was opened up in the country thanks to his energetic guidance. |
