Rodong Sinmun Calls for Preserving Juche Character, National Identity
Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Saturday dedicates an article to the 23rd anniversary of the publication of Chairman?Kim Jong Il's work "On Preserving the Juche Character and National Character of the Revolution and Construction".

The work, published on June 19, Juche 86(1997), deals with the proud successes and experience gained by the Workers' Party of Korea and the Korean people in the struggle for maintaining the Juche character and national identity under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung and clarifies the concrete tasks and ways for vigorously advancing the cause of socialism on the basis of it.

To preserve the Juche character and national identity is the fundamental principle to be maintained in accomplishing the cause of socialism, the article says, and goes on:

Our socialism preserving the Juche character and national identity is the invincible one advancing by dint of its powerful independent forces. It is also the independent one which develops by dint of self-reliance, preserving the revolutionary line of independence, and the genuine one thoroughly applying Korean style to all fabrics of social life from A to Z.

It is a decisive guarantee for the victory of socialist construction to strengthen the driving force of the revolution and enhance its role.

It is a historical lesson that no matter how strong military muscle and economic potentiality a country or a nation may possess, it can never escape failures and setbacks if its driving force of the revolution and political force are not fully prepared.

The way of defending the dignity of the country and achieving independent development and prosperity of the nation lies in holding fast to the revolutionary line of independence.

We can preserve the nature of socialism and give full play to its advantages when prioritizing our own things and thoroughly applying our own revolutionary and national way.
