S. Korean Organizations Accuse Authorities of Cracking down on Students
Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- Civic and public organizations including the Association for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience held a press conference in Seoul on June 19, accusing the south Korean authorities of cracking down on students under the Progressive Federation of Students, according to the south Korean internet paper Jaju Sibo.

Speakers said that the prosecution has taken two students under the Progressive Federation of Students into custody on June 4, on charges of electoral campaigning against a notorious candidate in "violation of the law on official election".

They went on:

The suppression of the students conducted in conspiracy with the judicature is an act to wither the activities of the students for independence and democracy and gag the people demanding the liquidation of deep-seated evils.

They urged the south Korean authorities to stop the illegal investigation and deliver the students from captivity at once.
