Among them are tasty cucumber, tomato, red pepper and carrot with high nutritive value and productivity.

The institute is associated with the devoted efforts of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un working heart and soul to supply the citizens with fresh vegetables in all seasons.

In July Juche 104 (2015), the Supreme Leader visited the institute again. He went round a computer control room, a bioengineering laboratory and hydroponic greenhouses of the institute to acquaint himself with its scientific research work and vegetable production, and gave precious instructions for its development.

He indicated the direction and ways for its research work, stressing the need to newly breed and spread tasty and nutritive, high-yielding greenhouse vegetable seeds, acclimatize world-famous vegetable species and actively introduce advanced cultivation technology.

And he advised that a national scientific research and experience-sharing workshop for officials in the greenhouse vegetable sector should be held at the institute every year and directions, books and multimedia programs on the greenhouse vegetable cultivation should be made and distributed.

After his onsite guidance, the institute has established effective cultivation methods for producing hundreds of tons of fruit vegetables per hectare and bred a number of new species of vegetables conducive to the improvement of the people's diet.
