Preparatory Work for Sea Urchin Farming Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- Preparatory work for sea urchin farming is brisk in fishery stations on the east coast of the DPRK.

The North Hamgyong Provincial Fishery Management Bureau has made a survey of mineral resources to secure the waters favorable to sea urchin farming. It has also overhauled the existing breeding grounds to lay material and technical foundations for sea urchin farming.

Officials and technicians of the fishery stations in Kim Chaek and Ryonjin have developed effective cultivating methods suiting the biological features of sea urchin.

Fishery stations under the South Hamgyong Provincial Fishery Management Bureau are also active in sea urchin farming.

Fishery stations in Rakwon, Soho and Hongwon, the Kyongpho Cultivation Fishery Station and other fishery stations have created an environment for breeding sea urchin and laid a firm foundation for the farming.

Several fishermen's cooperatives in South and North Hamgyong Provinces have also remodeled their culture grounds to ensure combined farming of sea urchin and trepang.
