Over 600 Heroes and Heroines Produced in Fatherland Liberation War
Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- During the Fatherland Liberation War, over 600 heroes and heroines were produced among the Korean people and the brave soldiers of the Korean People's Army (KPA).

More than 500 heroes and heroines were produced from units of all services and arms and special units of the KPA.

They devoted their youth and lives to the Party and the leader, the country and the people.

Many heroes and heroines were produced from the Party and power organs, the fields of public security, state security, prosecution and railway transport, people's guerrilla units, industrial establishments and farm villages. They bravely fought for the security of the rear.

Among them five were honored with the title of Twice Hero of the Republic and 13 women with the title of Hero of the Republic, and 20 (two women) with the title of Labor Hero.

There were scores of teenage heroes including 18-year-old Ri Su Bok who blocked the enemy's gun muzzle with his breast to open his unit's route of charge.

There were more than 420 heroes in their twenties and over one hundred heroes in their thirties and forties.

The Korean people take pride in those heroes and heroines as they are precious cornerstone of the Korean revolution. The strong spirit displayed by them to defend the country in the 1950s has become a paragon which all the people should learn from.
