Pyongyang, July 21 (KCNA) -- The great victory in the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953) would have been unthinkable without President Kim Il Sung's trust and love for the servicepersons and civilians. During the war, the President had always shown deep care for the soldiers' living conditions, regarding them as precious treasures. In one day of September Juche 40 (1951) when the fierce battles were going on to defend Height 1211 on the east front, he called the commander of a Korean People's Army corps active there on the phone and earnestly instructed him to take good care of the servicepersons' life, providing them with hot meals and comfortable bed. And he sent to the front a large amount of beans and mackerels and taught in detail how to keep and cook them. In May 1951, he took a step to run frontline rest homes for servicepersons. In November that year, he issued an order of dispatching a KPA regiment to the enemy rear to rescue an 18 year-old soldier's family and indicated detailed ways for the successful rescue operation. This news had been the limelight of world media at that time. Such paternal love of the President was the source of matchless bravery and heroism displayed by the KPA men and officers during the war. |
