KCNA Commentary on Japan's Arms Buildup
|
|
Pyongyang, July 23 (KCNA) -- Japan is giving spurs to the modernization of its armed forces. It is planning to lavish a huge amount of money on purchasing from abroad more than 100 F-35s and cruise missiles to be laden on the fighters. Japan is working hard to develop next-generation fighter and supersonic missile capable of attacking the target with different trajectories. The weapon systems sought by Japan, the long-range attack means, are military hardware for aggression contradicting the principle of "exclusive defense" specified in its constitution. Nonetheless, Japanese reactionaries term their arms buildup "possession of self-defence capabilities", talking about "threat" from neighboring countries. The Abe regime has spent the hugest-ever amount of money every year for updating the military forces since its emergence, thus turning Japan into the one equal to major Western powers in military muscle. Japan openly betrays its revanchist ambition for reinvasion, far from recognizing the crimes of aggression in the past and making an apology and reparation for them. It mapped out a strategy for free and open Indo-Pacific to militarily overpower the regional powers and has made desperate efforts to carry it out. It is not difficult to guess what Japan seeks in its extensive arms buildup. Japan's arms buildup is nothing but preparations for launching an attack to realize its old dream for the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere". In case Japan with huge military muscle revises its Pacifist Constitution, the outbreak of a war in the region is a matter of time. The international community is closely watching Japan's dangerous arms buildup. |
