Japanese Authorities' Moves for Stamping out Korean National Education under Fire
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- Actions in protest against the Japanese authorities' unjust moves to stamp out Korean national education are going on across Japan.

Those concerned of the kindergartens of Korean schools and Japanese figures in Hokkaido and Miyagi Prefectures and other regions held a meeting in Tokyo on July 16 to urge the Cabinet Office, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan to apply the "program for free education and upbringing of children" to the kindergartens of Korean schools in Japan. The participants protested against the Japanese authorities' persistent discrimination against Koreans and Korean schools in Japan.

They conveyed letters of request signed by 46,935 Koreans and Japanese citizens in Hokkaido and other five prefectures to officials of the ministries.

On July 15, the groups of petitioners handed letters of request signed by 40,240 citizens in Osaka Prefecture and 37,178 in Hyogo Prefecture to officials of the related ministries.

They urged the Japanese authorities to accept the request of Koreans in Japan and Japanese citizens in a responsible manner.
