Blueberry under cultivation in Mt Paektu area is rich in carbohydrate, fat, protein, mineral matters, vitamins and amino and organic acids. So, it has such clear pharmacological effects as recovery of eyesight and strengthening of cardiovascular system.

In the last four years, hundreds of hectares of land have been reclaimed for blueberry cultivation and high-yielding blueberry saplings bred and transplanted.

The city is gathering a large amount of blueberry every day. And the Samjiyon Blueberry Drink Factory is making full preparations for producing blueberry drinks by timely processing it.

Visiting the factory in October last year, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un said that it should wage a dynamic struggle for further raising the quality of blueberry products and mass-producing them, thus making the drinks and other products based on blueberry, one of a specialty of Mt Paektu and Ryanggang Province, the ones beloved by all the people.
