On this occasion, the civilians and servicepersons of the DPRK are recollecting with deep emotion the history of ceaseless military inspections he made along with Chol Pass.

Chol Pass is situated in a mountainous area of Kangwon Province of the country. The pass with steep ridges and deep valleys has ninety-nine turnings.

In his lifetime the Chairman crossed this rugged pass many times to inspect forefront military units, regardless of the hottest period of summer and the blizzards of winter.

One day in July Juche 90 (2001), officials entreated him to cross the steep pass no more. At that time, the Chairman said that he had to go over the pass often as there are his beloved soldiers on the defence line waiting for him.

He told commanding officers of the Korean People's Army (KPA) that his mind is always with the soldiers reliably defending the country and he would continue to cross the pass.

Thanks to his ceaseless military inspection, the KPA could develop into an elite revolutionary army and the destiny of the country and the people be honorably defended.
