Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -- Achievements have been recorded in the campaign to eradicate the aftermath of the flood damage and provide stable living conditions to the people in the flood-stricken areas as soon as possible. The service personnel who are taking part in the rehabilitation of flood-stricken Taechong-ri, Unpha County, North Hwanghae Province made millions of blocks and thus opened up vistas for finishing the construction of dwellings. People of Ichon County, Kangwon Province in joint operation with service personnel reconnected the county's communication line to the provincial one and joined the communication lines between the county and the villages as of Aug. 21. Cement-production, iron-and-steel-production and timber-production units throughout the country are pushing forward with the work to supply enough cement, iron and steel and timber to the flood-ravaged areas. The Sunchon Cement Complex provided over 10,000 tons of cement to the reconstruction sites in a short span of time. The light industrial sector sent lots of underwear and socks to people of flood-hit areas, including Kimhwa and Changdo counties of Kangwon Province, and is arranging the work to timely supply daily necessities for the next season under a meticulous plan. The railway transport sector is giving priority to the transport of emergency materials, keeping in close touch with the recovery sites. |
