Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- Two more mural tombs and relics dating back to Koguryo Kingdom were recently unearthed in the DPRK. The Archaeological Institute under the Academy of Social Sciences excavated those tombs and nine gold ornaments in Wolji-ri, Anak County of South Hwanghae Province and checked their historical references. The Archaeology Society of the DPRK verified that the mural tombs were constructed in the first half of the sixth century and appraised their archaeological importance. Judging from historical documents saying that only high-ranking officials could be buried in mural tombs during the period of Koguryo Kingdom, it affords clear proof that the area was one of important administrative hubs of the kingdom. |
