Efforts Paid to Offshore and Freshwater Fish Farming in DPRK

Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- The DPRK directs efforts to the construction of spawning ponds for the offshore fish farming and to the freshwater fish farming. North Hamgyong Province is hastening various construction projects at a fast tempo after completing the first-stage project for the Jikha Atlantic Salmon Pedigree Farm. And South Hwanghae Province has pushed ahead with the construction of croaker spawning pond. A brisk work goes on to artificially breed freshwater fishes and build spawning ponds for mandarin fish, Hucho ishikawai, char, etc. The Anju City Fish Breeding Station has secured thousands of breeding fishes and put their raising and tending on a scientific basis to provide a foundation for increasing sweet fish in the Chongchon River. Meanwhile, fish farms and breeding farms across the country are striving to create a favorable environment for the spawning of freshwater fishes in rivers, lakes and reservoirs. |
