Korean Nation's History of Making Soy and Bean Paste

Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- Korea is the home of bean. From long ago, Koreans have made soy and bean paste with it and used them in diet. ?The long history of soy and bean paste is evidenced by the words written on Tokhung-ri mural tomb (built in 408) in Kangso District of Nampho City and the records in book "Jungbosanrimgyongje" published in the late 18th century. The method of making soy and bean paste was slightly different according to regions and families and the grade of each family was decided by its taste. Bean paste is known to the world as one of the best health food which is effective in preventing cancer. The making of soy and bean paste is registered as one of the national intangible heritages in the DPRK. |
