Records of Feudal Joson Dynasty, National Classic of Korea
Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- The Chronicles of the Feudal Joson Dynasty, national classic of Korea, consists of 1 763 volumes.

The chronicles recorded the 500-odd-year-long history of the feudal Joson dynasty (1392-1910) according to ruling periods of 27 kings in chronological order. It deals with such data as the then politics, economy, military affairs, diplomacy, education, ideology, religious belief, ethics, moral life, astronomy, weather, geography, medical science, science and technology and customs of the people.

In the last Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953), President Kim Il Sung conducted an unprecedented operation for rescuing the Chronicles of the Feudal Joson Dynasty.

Early in July Juche 39 (1950), he summoned officials to the Supreme Command and said that he was planning to dispatch them to Seoul for bringing the national classic. Noting that all valuable things of the nation were in danger due to the war, he instructed them to rescue the national classic at any cost.

He handed out the credentials bearing his august name to those officials and issued an order of the Supreme Commander to relevant organs and units to assist their operation. After all, a route for bringing the chronicles was marked on the map of operations at the Supreme Command and a military truck was allotted to the transport of the chronicles.

When they brought the original chronicles, the President took a measure to safely preserve it at the Supreme Command.

Thanks to his noble love for the nation, the Chronicles of the Feudal Joson Dynasty could be preserved as a precious treasure of the Korean nation even in the flames of the war.
