National Art Exhibition Opens
Pyongyang, October 5 (KCNA) -- A national art exhibition opened to celebrate the 75th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).

National art treasures depicting the images of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who performed immortal exploits for the founding of the WPK and its development are displayed in the exhibition hall.

Also on display are hundreds of excellent art pieces like Korean painting, oil painting and sculpture created by artists of the Mansudae Art Studio, the Central Fine Arts Studio and other art studios and by amateur painters in Pyongyang and provinces.

An opening ceremony took place at the Okryu Exhibition Hall on October 5.

Present there were Kim In Bom, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of the Unions of Art and Literature of Korea, officials and artists of fine art studios, and citizens in Pyongyang.

Jon Myong Sik, minister of Culture, stressed in his opening address that the exhibition would contribute to celebrating the 75th founding anniversary of the Party as a great revolutionary event and a significant festival, and encourage the people to step up the revolutionary march toward the 8th Congress of the Party.

The exhibition will continue till November 3.
