The President declared the birth of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) at this building on October 10, Juche 34 (1945).

On display at the museum are data on the historic root of party founding and the successes and experience in party building made by the President during the anti-Japanese revolution and data on the fact that he founded the WPK without delay after Korea's liberation (August 15, 1945) from Japan's colonial rule, and strengthened the WPK on their basis.

There are also data dealing with the historical facts that he rapidly expanded the ranks of the Party by implementing its political and organizational lines after its founding, successfully settled the issues of building government and armed forces and training the native cadres, and rallied the broad masses around the Party through the enforcement of various democratic reforms, thus further strengthening the Party.

The Party Founding Museum was opened in October 1970.
