Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- In Munsu Street of Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, there is the Monument to Party Founding. The monument consists of the tower body depicting muscular hands holding a hammer, sickle and brush, a cylindrical belt, and a round pedestal 70 meters in diameter and sculptures in relief. The hammer, sickle and brush are symbolic of the workers, peasants and intellectuals, component elements of the Workers' Party of Korea. Seen on the belt is a relief slogan "Long live the Workers' Party of Korea which organizes and guides all victories of the Korean people!"? The pedestal shows the long history, glorious course and might of the WPK. The sculptures in relief tell that the WPK, as a new-type party of the working class and as the general staff of the revolution with a great history, has enjoyed absolute support and trust from all the people, making a harmonious whole with the masses and is struggling for the global cause of socialism. The Monument to Party Founding was erected as an edifice of the era in October Juche 84 (1995), the 50th founding anniversary of the WPK, under the initiative and energetic guidance of Chairman Kim Jong Il. |
