The novel depicts the exploits Chairman Kim Jong Il performed by further developing the People's Army into invincible combat ranks remaining loyal to the leadership of the Party with pure revolutionary outlook on the leader.

The novel recalls that the Chairman climbed Mt Paektu in summer of Juche 57 (1968) and made a decisive decision to root out anti-party warlord-bureaucratism from the People's Army and strictly maintain the traditions and the revolutionary character of the revolutionary armed forces peculiar to the army of the leader and the Party.

The novel also deals with the feats he performed by wisely leading the work for strengthening the Party's guidance on the People's Army in every way, so as to establish the revolutionary command system and military discipline throughout the army.

The novel notes that President Kim Il Sung, together with Chairman Kim Jong Il, meets the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters and the commanding officers of the younger generation at Mangyongdae in April 1972 and has a photo session with them, expressing the expectation and conviction that the People's Army would firmly preserve its true nature, remaining true to the cause of the Party.

It depicts Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un warmly recollecting the glorious course of development of our revolutionary armed forces strengthened under the leadership of the President and the Chairman, seeing the steel-strong ranks marching past the square of the military parade marking the centenary of the birth of the President in April 2012.

The novel represents the idea that the People's Army, which has carried forward the brilliant traditions created during the anti-Japanese armed struggle, greeted the new spring for its development into the revolutionary army of the Party under the leadership of the Chairman, and that it will always greet the spring of victory as it is led by the Supreme Leader.
