A meeting marking the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) entering the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to fight in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea was held Friday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Attending the meeting were Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), president of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and chairman of the Central Military Commission of the PRC, leading officials of CPC and the state, veterans of CPV, bereaved families of the martyrs of CPV and others.

The participants paid silent tribute to the martyrs of CPV.

Xi Jinping made a speech at the meeting.

He noted that the Chinese People Volunteers fought bloody battles with the Korean people upholding the just banner of defending peace and rejecting aggression and achieved a victory 70 years ago.

He said that the Party, government and people of Korea valued CPV and supported them and the armies and peoples of the two countries forged the militant ties of friendship in blood sharing weal and woe with each other.

He continued to say that the victory achieved by China and Korea has a great significance in the national-liberation struggle of the oppressed people of the world and in changing the world strategic structure.

He called for making continuous advance for implementing the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation, united close around the party central committee and for displaying the spirit of resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea.

Meanwhile, there were events of laying floral baskets to the cemetery of the martyrs fallen in resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, China and the monument to resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea in Dandong City.
