Pyongyang, October 26 (KCNA) -- In the DPRK, big efforts have been paid to the careful preservation and management of cultural heritages under the Workers' Party of Korea's policy on conserving the national heritages.

In recent years, a signal progress was made in the work to unearth and restore and conserve the cultural heritages associated with wisdom and talents of the ancestors.

Discovered in Kaesong, which was the capital of Koryo (918-1392), are mausoleums of the 2nd king (Hye Jong) and the 15th king (Suk Jong) of Koryo and Koryo metal type showing that the Korean nation contributed to the development of world enlightenment.

Sokwang Temple, a famous architectural heritage in the middle ages, was restored and many historical relics including eight buildings of Pohyon Temple in Mt Myohyang were colorfully repainted.

The cultivation of Koryo insam and its use, the technique for making Koryo celadon and many other intangible heritages were registered as the national intangible heritages, while folk song "Arirang", kimchi-making and ssirum (Korean wrestling) were listed as world intangible heritages.

Meanwhile, a geographical information system on national heritages was completed, contributing to the cultural heritage conservation.

The Korea National Heritage Protection Fund was established and "genealogy of the Ris of Toksu" and other remains donated by individuals were housed as treasures of the nation.
