Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Wednesday dedicates an article to the 55th anniversary of President Kim Il Sung's first meeting in Pyongyang with Kaysone Phomvihane, former general secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.

Kim Il Sung warmly greeted Kaysone Phomvihane who visited the DPRK for the first time and his entourage in person at the airport on October 28, Juche 54(1965) although he was so busy with state affairs. And he made an immortal contribution to the development of the friendly relations between the DPRK and Laos and to the accomplishment of the cause of human independence by his energetic external revolutionary activities.

The first meeting and talks between Kim Il Sung and Kaysone Phomvihane was a historic event that provided the valuable tradition of the friendly relations between the two countries with socialism as common ideology, the article says, and goes on:

Afterward, the President gave positive support and encouragement to the national liberation war and the building of a new society by the Lao people under the guidance of Kaysone Phomvihane. Thus the President consolidated the foundation of the DPRK-Laos friendship.

The Lao party and government have given support to the just cause of the DPRK people.

The bilateral relations of friendship and many-sided cooperation provided by the preceding leaders have been steadily developing in the common struggle for socialism.

Our Party and people remain steadfast in their will to consolidate the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the two parties and between the two peoples based on comradely obligation as required by the new era.

The Korean people are confident that the Lao people will register greater success in their struggle to implement the decisions of the 10th Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party under its guidance.
