Korean Agency for National Heritage Conservation
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- The Korean Agency for National Heritage Conservation has made a signal progress in putting the cultural heritage conservation on a scientific basis.

The agency plays the role of a scientific research center and an advisory organ in the national heritage conservation.

Its researchers, together with scientists of the State Academy of Sciences, developed a geographical information system on national heritages that is a comprehensive database dealing with photos, maps and explanations about historical relics.

They also completed an e-book "Beauty Spots of Korea, Natural Monuments" and wrote books about Koguryo mural tombs registered as world heritages, newly-unearthed Koguryo mural tombs and the construction and management of a castle town in Koguryo Kingdom (B.C. 277-A.D. 668).

Meanwhile, they made red-and-blue paints needed for the management of historical buildings and other relics with inorganic paints abundant in the country and proved their effectiveness and quality through several-year-long observation after applying the paints to historical relics in Pyongyang and Kaesong. Those paints are now used in coloring the historical relics across the country.

And they finished the surveyed maps on old structures in Pyongyang area and historical relics in Mt Myohyang.
